Using Temporal Distribution Subscale of the
Time Personality Questionnaire, this study selected 58 polychronic and
monochronic participants out of 551 individuals to take part in the experiment.
This study investigated whether executive function differ between this two
types of temporal distribution individuals while task switching. Meanwhile,
through positive, neutral and negative affective priming, this paper also focused
on the effect of emotion on task switching. The results showed that polychromic
participants’ respond time of task switching was significantly shorter than
monochronic participants’ (F = 24.370, p < 0.001). The main
effect of emotion was significant (F = 5.215, p < 0.01), and
monochronic participants’ respond time in positive emotion was significantly
shorter than in neutral and negative emotion. But there were no significant differences
between task-switch and task-repeat. According to the results, polychromic
individuals perform better in task switching, in addition, positive emotions
can promote polychromic individuals’ task switching.
