Abstract: Differential evolution algorithm and radial basis function (RBF) networks meta-model are used for numerical optimization of a 13 KW solar powered alpha stirling engine. Solar powered alpha Stirling engine has been simulated by using second order method. Stirling engine has been modeled by using thermodynamic relations and some known experimental relations. Using C++ language, a computational code has been developed for numerical simulation and optimization of Stirling engine. The engine geometric and thermal parameters have the most important effect on the engine performance. In this work, these parameters have been improved by using meta-model assisted differential evolution optimization algorithm. The results demonstrate that the performance of the optimal design has been increased considerably compared with that of the initial guess.
