Abstract: This paper presents a new segment-based stereo matching algorithm using region method. Firstly, due to a reasonable assumption, we do color segmentation to the reference image and get a series of segments that the disparity in the same segment is the same. Then a local-based method with crosschecking process is used to get the initial disparity map. Finally we set every segment with a unique disparity value by a median filtering to obtain the final disparity map. The experimental results show that this algorithm has good performance in accuracy and speed.
