Abstract: We introduce a new idea of surface reconstruction method for particle-based fluid simulation like Smoothed Particle Hydrodynamics. As the tangential flow method can only be applied at the sampling locations surrounding by points represent a single surface, we first find the main surface sampling region centered at the L1-median of the nearby fluid particles. The new sampling region is then stretched along fluid surface tangent to enclose more surface information. Then the tangential flow is used to extract the signed distance field of the implicit surface. Our method provides a geometry plausible way to model a both smooth and detail preserving surface, and can wipe off outlier particles influence in the complex regions.
