Abstract: Shuffled frog leaping algorithm (SFLA) is characterized by simple concept, few control parameters required and easy implement, etc, but has the disadvantage of lower convergence speed and solution accuracy for solving hard and high-dimensional optimization functions. However, differential evolution (DE) algorithm has advantages of strong global search capability and the diversity of the population. Due to its advantages, this paper proposes an improved SFLA (ISFLA) which employs the DE/rand/1/bin (DEr1) scheme as local search operators to enhance convergence speed and solution precision. The proposed ISFLA is tested against six typical hard and 30-dimentional benchmark functions and the results are compared extensively with ones obtained by DEr1 and SFLA to demonstrate its effectiveness and robustness.
