Abstract:

This paper developed and examined the theory of how commitment-based human resource practices affect employee innovative behavior (idea generation, idea promotion and idea realization) that facilitate psychological empowerment. A study of a big high-technology company in China showed that commitment-based human resource practices were positively related to innovative behavior. Psychological empowerment fully mediated the relationship between commitment-based HR practices and idea generation, and partially mediated the relationship between commitment-based practices and both idea promotion and realization.
