Abstract: In the paper, it is studied the way of replacing the traditional blowing argon from the bottom by the high power ultrasonic. And the feasibility of the high power ultrasonic applied to improve the dynamical condition of the secondary refining is studied. Ultrasonic generator with frequency 20kHz and the max power 2000W is designed. The hydraulic model experiment to improve stirring effect in the molten bath which is taken on 180t ladle of some steel factory as prototype was done. The results show that, when the gas flow is constant, with the ultrasonic power changing from 800W to 2000W, the mixing time increases with the ultrasonic power reducing, when the power is 1800W, the mixing time is shortest, greater than 1800W, the mixing time begin to increase; with the air flow increasing , the mixing time is reduced; the shortest mixing time is 35s when the solution is stirred only by ultrasonic; because of mutual interference the stirring effect by ultrasonic is obviously superior to blowing air from bottom and ultrasonic .
