Abstract: The use of underbalanced foam drilling technology is becoming common practice worldwide, it is used to reduce the drilling cost, and to improve productivity, and to discover and protect the reservoir. Foam drilling fluid plays a vital part in foam drilling. This paper have tested the defoam efficiency with different gas liquid ratio, defoam pressure and nozzle size. The testing program was obtained by orthogonal experiment, which decreased the numbers of text times immensely, saving a lot of time. Technological parameters combination were obtained from the test result. Between the ranges of parameters selected by this test, it turned out that the nozzle size is the most important parameters that can affect the defoam efficiency on different degree, liquid ratio is secondary, and the defoam pressure fall in between the former two parameters, and so the next researches about nozzle size have foundation; The best bit level that, the liquid ration is 125, nozzle size is 3mm, defoam pressure is 0.25MP, should be selected to use in the defoam drilling process.
