Abstract: The first transgression of Plaeozoic in North China happened in Canglangpuan Age. Stratigraphy in the north and south of North China is thicker than that in the middle. The lithology is significantly different from east to west. The transgression started in the south and northeast of North China, and the former is eralier than the latter. There are many sedimentary facies, such as shallow continental shelf and tidal flat (sand flat, dolomite flat, dolomite-limestone flat, mud-limestone flat and limestone flat). Mudstone source rock which develops on the shallow-sea shelf proves to be high-quality source rock after being researched. Study about the distribution of hydrocarbon source rocks shows that high-quality source mainly develops in Fuyang and Changshan, Anhui Province.
