Abstract: The oxidation processes of demineralized Shenfu coal under UV-irradiation were investigated in this paper. The oxidation products were characterized by chemical analysis, ultimate analysis, FTIR, GC/MS and solvent extraction. The results showed that the total humic acid content of photo-oxidation products of demineralized Shenfu coal was less than that of row coal. With the photo-oxidation time extention, the total humic acid content increased and reached maximum at 8 hours. The acetone and tetrahydrofuran extraction yields of demineralized coal oxidizing with oxygen under UV were about two times less than that of raw coal. The benzene ring in demineralized Shenfu coal probably was selective oxidized during photocatalytic oxidation. Furthermore, GC/MS analysis indicated that the branched paraffin and terpenoids derivatives in Shenfu raw coal were easier to be oxidized.
