Abstract: The iron-based catalyst (Fe/Cu/K/SiO2) was prepared by a combination method of continuous co-precipitation and spray-drying technology. The activation was conducted in situ, using syngas (H2/CO=0.67, molar ratio) at 0.1 MPa, l.0 NL/g-cat.h and 270 oC. The FTS performances of the catalysts were evaluated in a continuous stirred tank slurry reactor (STSR) under the industrial relevant reaction conditions. Reduction duration of the iron-based catalyst had a significant effect on subsequent product distributions. Prolonged the catalyst reduction duration from 13 h to 26 h at 270 oC, one interesting discovery that there were no water products was observed. A repeated test was carried out and the same results were obtained. The underlying reasons of this phenomenon were still investigated.
