Hematology,
also spelled haematology, is the branch of medicine concerned with the study of
the cause, prognosis, treatment, and prevention of diseases related to blood.
It involves treating diseases that affect the production of blood and its
components, such as blood cells, hemoglobin, blood proteins, bone marrow,
platelets, blood vessels, spleen, and the mechanism of coagulation.
In the present book, fifteen typical
literatures about hematology published on international authoritative journals
were selected to introduce the worldwide newest progress, which contains
reviews or original researches on blood proteins, venous blood, human iron
metabolism, white blood cell, hemoglobin, blood transfusion, etc. We hope this
book can demonstrate advances in hematology as well as give references to the
researchers, students and other related people.
