ABSTRACT: A large-scale PV installation has a profound effect on the power quality and operation of the grid. Therefore, as installations of PV systems increase, changes to both technologies and interconnection standards are needed to address these high PV penetration systems. This paper investigates the main technical impacts of large-scale PV generations on power grids and associated interconnection standards. A case study by using the PSS/E software in the Kinmen power system was implemented to study the steady-state and transient characteristics for the high penetration PV systems.
