ABSTRACT: English language learners (ELLs) are individuals who are learning English as a second language. The main goal of ESL learning is to encourage children to speak English as quickly and as competently as possible. This paper reviews the current state of the art in the field of English language learning and discusses how teachers can effectively assess these ELLs.
