ABSTRACT: In the present work, ZnO·PbO·B2O3 glasses are prepared to be used as g-ray shielding materials. The attenuation properties of these glasses with different concentrations of PbO (20% - 70%) have been investigated at photon energies 662, 1173, 1332 and 2614 keV. The optical absorption spectra of some glass samples have been measured from 200 to 1100 nm before and after g-ray irradiation. The analyses of these spectra have been interpreted and discussed.
