ABSTRACT: We report the first case of a ureteric stone containing gas. This rare stone with gas within it was found during the management of a diabetic patient with urosepsis as the initial presentation. Literature review of cases of renal stone containing gas, mechanisms of gas within the stone, and clinical implications of stone containing gas are discussed. Also, a new terminology is proposed to describe this phenomenon.
