ABSTRACT: Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) is associated with inflammation of one or more of serous membranes resulting in pleural, peritoneal and pericardial effusion. Massive effusion had rarely been reported in patients with SLE and responded well to immunosuppressive therapy. We reported a case of SLE with recurrent massive ascites as the main presenting complaint with review of the available literature.
