Axel Hägerström, Max Weber and Michel Foucault

Abstract

In order to shed new light upon Swedish philosopher Axel H?gerstr?m (1868-1939), Michel Foucault’s key distinction concerning the “ontology of the present” appears very promising. H?gerstr?m published a number of books and articles in both general philosophy and social criticism, the former focussing upon ontology and epistemology, whereas the latter contained a painstaking cultural critique, aiming at demystifying the established moral conceptions, the heralded religion and authoritative law.
