ABSTRACT

In June 2021, the Propaganda Department of the CPC Central Committee expanded the pilot scope of “the three enters” of the multilingual versions of “Xi Jinping The Governance of China” into universities, textbooks and classrooms. As one of the 25 pilot universities around the country, our university actively introduces the English version of “Xi Jinping The Governance of China” reading handouts into college English teaching. However, in the early stage of teaching practice, the author found that there were some problems in the implementation, such as emphasis on teaching forms, but neglect on teaching content, emphasis on teaching objectives, but neglect on teaching methods, emphasis on assessment on knowledge and skills, but neglect on literacy assessment. Based on practical reflection, this paper forms an implementation path that focuses on goal setting in vocabulary teaching, deepens ideological and political consciousness in classic reading, and re-examines Chinese culture in storytelling, so as to achieve teaching effectiveness such as establishing students’ cultural self-confidence, broadening students’ international vision, and promoting students’ all-round development.
