ABSTRACT

Reproducing The Peony Pavilion, deeply rooted in the soil of excellent traditional national culture, embodies the excellent traditional Chinese culture. Based on the dream-pursuing process of three generations in Fan Haiquan’s family, the elder generation of opera artists, the awakening of feminine consciousness and searching for social identity and personal identity of the heroine Fan Shujun were analyzed from the perspective of feminist theory. Fan Shujun has a sublimated thought in the whole process of “amazing dream, seeking dream, dream broken and dream realized”, which shows the ideological change, spiritual agitation and youth emotional progress of young women. Reproducing The Peony Pavilion is a new form of the dissemination and inheritance of The Peony Pavilion. The awakening of feminine consciousness and personal identity contained in both works run through the ancient and modern times.
