ABSTRACT

The aim of this work was to show the effect of change in pH on removing turbidity, the concentration of turbidity (100, 300) NTU, where the turbidity was removed by using activated carbon column (height 11 cm and internal diameter 8 cm) and contained a cotton filter in the bottom of it, pH range (5, 7, 10), by using pH adjustment (HCL, NaOH), alum and ferric chloride was used as additive. The results showed that the activated carbon had excellent results for removal turbidity, and the removal efficiency was enhanced with increasing pH the best results at pH (7, 10) and also when adding alum and ferric chloride, but the effect of ferric chloride was more than alum in removing turbidity.
