ABSTRACT

The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship between organizational citizenship behavior with organizational commitment and equity perception of secondary school administrators in Zahedan. The descriptive-correlational method was applied. The population of the study included all secondary school administrators in Zahedan in 2013-2014 academic year (N = 92). Using the sample size formula, 78 administrators were selected as respondents. Data collection instruments included Podsakoff’s Organizational Citizenship Behavior Inventory (2000), Strone’s Equity Perception Inventory (1996) and Steers and Porter’s Organizational Commitment Questionnaire (1998). The content validity of the questionnaires was checked and their reliability was estimated using Cronbach’s alpha coefficient which was 0.93, 0.83 and 0.72, respectively. To investigate the research questions, Pearson correlation coefficient and stepwise regression analysis were used. Based on the findings of the research, there was a significant positive correlation between organizational citizenship behavior and both organizational commitment and equity perception of secondary school administrators in Zahedan. Considering the components of organizational citizenship behavior, there was a significant positive relationship between altruism and conscientiousness and equity perception, and between conscientiousness, sportsmanship, civic virtue and respect and organizational commitment. Moreover, there was a significant negative correlation between equity perception and organizational commitment. With regard to the components of organizational citizenship behavior, conscientiousness could predict equity perception and tribute could predict organizational commitment.
