 Special Issue on Hypertension Research

Hypertension (HTN) is a chronic medical condition in which the blood pressure in the arteries is elevated. This requires the heart to work harder than normal to circulate blood through the blood vessels. Blood pressure is summarised by two measurements, systolic and diastolic, which depend on whether the heart muscle is contracting (systole) or relaxed between beats (diastole) and equate to a maximum and minimum pressure, respectively. Normal blood pressure at rest is within the range of 100-140mmHg systolic (top reading) and 60-90mmHg diastolic (bottom reading). High blood pressure is said to be present if it is persistently at or above 140/90 mmHg. Hypertension is classified as either primary (essential) hypertension or secondary hypertension and it is a major risk factor for stroke, myocardial infarction (heart attacks), heart failure, aneurysms of the arteries (e.g. aortic aneurysm), peripheral arterial disease and is a cause of chronic kidney disease. As one of the most important research fields of human life, hypertension research is of great attractions to researchers.

In this special issue, we intend to invite front-line researchers and authors to submit original researches and review articles on exploring hypertension research. Potential topics include, but are not limited to:

  • Cardiovascular hypertension
  • High blood pressure
  • Arterial hypertension
  • Primary hypertension
  • Secondary hypertension
  • Hypertensive emergency

Authors should read over the journal’s Authors’ Guidelines carefully before submission, Prospective authors should submit an electronic copy of their complete manuscript through the journal at Paper Submission System.

Please kindly notice that the “Special Issue under your manuscript title is supposed to be specified and the research field “Special Issue - Hypertension Research” should be chosen during your submission.
