Special Issue on Neonatal Health and Care


Neonatal medicine is a subspecialty of pediatrics that consists of the medical care of newborn infants, especially the ill or premature newborn. It is a hospital-based specialty, and is usually practiced in neonatal intensive care units (NICUs). The principal patients of neonatologists are newborn infants who are ill or require special medical care due to prematurity, low birth weight, intrauterine growth restriction, congenital malformations , sepsis, pulmonary hypoplasia or birth asphyxia.


In this special issue, we intend to invite front-line researchers and authors to submit original research and review articles on Neonatal Health and Care. Potential topics include, but are not limited to:

  • Newborn screening and care
  • Neonatal intensive care unit
  • Low birth weight infants
  • Growth and development
  • Problems and care for preterm infants
  • Infant mortality
  • Neonatal diseases and infections
  • Surgical treatment
  • Respiratory distress syndrome
  • Congenital malformations
  • Newborn defects
  • Sepsis

Authors should read over the journal’s For Authors carefully before submission. Prospective authors should submit an electronic copy of their complete manuscript through the journal’s Paper Submission System.
