Special Issue on Molecular Marker

Molecular marker (identified as genetic marker) is a fragment of DNA which is associated with a certain location within the genome. It is used as an experimental probe to keep track of an individual, a tissue, a cell, a nucleus, a chromosome, or a gene.

There are many different types of molecular markers of varying lengths and configurations that can be used for many different purposes, of which single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) and insertions and deletions (InDels) are revealed to be highly abundant and distributed throughout the genome in various species via public accessibility on the genome sequences of several organisms. Hence, two types of molecular markers: size variants (microsatellites, SSRs) and sequence variants (SNPs) are recommended here.

Molecular markers are important to the science of genetics because not only they have provided the tools to investigate genetic mechanisms, but they are the means by which we endeavor to dissect complex genetic traits and complement traditional crop improvement methods.

In this special issue, we intend to invite front-line researchers and authors to submit original research and review articles on exploring Molecular Marker.

Authors should read over the journal’s Author’s Guidelines carefully before submission. Prospective authors should submit an electronic copy of their complete manuscript through the journal Paper Submission System.
