Special Issue on Business Models in Service Ecosystem Perspective

The Special Issue “Business Models in Service Ecosystem Perspective” of the Journal of Service Science and Management (JSSM) aims to foster a conceptual advancement of the debate on service ecosystems and to highlight the practical implication arising from the adoption of the service ecosystem perspective. Researchers are invited to submit original works on business models in service ecosystem perspective.

In this special issue, we intend to invite front-line researchers and authors to submit original research and review articles on exploring Business Models in Service Ecosystem Perspective. Potential topics include, but are not limited to:

l  Service ecosystem sustainable development

l  Business models innovation

l  Forefront marketing practices

l  Service-oriented decision making

l  Value co-creation practical examples

l  Service-based information technology

l  Communication in service ecosystems

l  Actor to Actor relationships

l  Ecosystem service management

Several case studies show the benefits deriving from the definition of service-oriented business models, based on the implementation of strategies that place the service at the center of the value co-creation process. Drawing up a business model in the service ecosystem perspective means creating a community of interacting actors who share and exchange their resources in order to adapt to the environment and co-evolve for mutual benefits: business models may be advantageously interpreted according to the service ecosystem lens since every actor engaged in business processes can be seen as a complex service system capable of creating social and economic wellbeing thanks to resource integration processes, institutional arrangement, alignment of individual goals towards the ultimate finality of value co-creation.
