    Special Issue on Bombyx Mori Research


    Silkworm is an economically important insect, being a primary producer of silk. A silkworm's preferred food is white mulberry leaves. It is entirely dependent on humans for its reproduction and does not occur naturally in the wild. Sericulture, the practice of breeding silkworms for the production of raw silk, has been underway for at least 5,000 years in China, from where it spread to Korea and Japan, and later to India and the West. The silkworm was domesticated from the wild silk moth which has a range from northern India to northern China, Korea, Japan and far the eastern regions of Russia. The full genome of the silkworm was published in 2008 by the International Silkworm Genome Consortium. A draft sequence was published in 2004. Due to the great consumption of silk, the silkworm has become a model organism in the study of lepidopteron and arthropod biology.


    In this special issue, we intend to invite front-line researchers and authors to submit original research and review articles on exploring Bombyx Mori Research. Potential topics include, but are not limited to:


    • Bombyx mor in morphology
    • Bombyx mor in genetic engineering
    • Bombyx mor in cryobiology
    • Bombyx mor in molecular biology
    • Bombyx mor in microbiology
    • Bombyx mor in breeding
    • Bombyx mor in silking


    Authors should read over the journal’s Authors’ Guidelines carefully before submission. Prospective authors should submit an electronic copy of their complete manuscript through the journal’s Paper Submission System.
