Special Issue on Microarray
Microarray is a 2D array on a solid substrate (usually a glass slide or silicon thin-film cell) that using high-throughput screening methods to assay large amounts of biological material including DNA, RNA, peptide, protein, etc. Types of microarrays include: DNA microarrays for surveillance of micro RNA populations, such as cDNA microarrays, oligonucleotide microarrays, SNP microarrays and MM Chips; Protein microarrays and peptide microarrays for detailed analyses or optimization of protein-protein interactions; Tissue microarrays; Cellular microarrays; Chemical compound microarrays; Antibody microarrays; Carbohydrate arrays; Phenotype microarrays and interferometric reflectance imaging sensor (IRIS). The concept and methodology of microarrays was first introduced and illustrated in antibody microarrays (also referred to as antibody matrix) in 1983. And the "gene chip" industry started to grow in the 1990s, nowadays, the technology of DNA microarrays has become one of the most sophisticated and the most widely used technologies.
In this special issue, we are going to invite front-line researchers and authors to submit original research and review articles that explore microarray. Potential topics include, but are not limited to:
