Special Issue on
Earth Observation for Ocean-Atmosphere Interactions
There are continuously exchanges of momentum, heat and material between the atmosphere and ocean. This phe-nomenon is called “atmosphere-ocean interaction”. It focuses on: air-sea interaction, water quality changes, and gas exchanges.
In atmosphere-ocean heat exchange, air vertical eddy the primary way of heat exchange, followed by convection of heat exchange, which determines the amount of heat transferred from ocean to atmosphere. At the same time, sea surface evaporation offers large amount of moisture to the atmosphere. According to statistics, in north pacific, there are 9.0*1013 tons water evaporated to the atmosphere, and 351200 billion tons globally. The water evaporation consumes large amount of heat, furthermore, during the evaporation process, large volume of gas, especially oxygen and carbon dioxide, is transferred from the ocean to the atmosphere, which plays a critical role in marine lives and various impacts in ocean science.
In this special issue, we intend to invite front-line researchers and authors to submit original research and review articles on exploring Earth Observation for Ocean-Atmosphere Interactions.
Authors should read over the journal’s Author’s Guidelines carefully before submission, Prospective authors should submit an electronic copy of their complete manuscript through the journal Paper Submission System.
