Special Issue on Mass Spectrometry

Mass spectrometry (MS) is the science of displaying the spectra (singular spectrum) of the masses of the molecules comprising a sample of material. It is used for determining the elemental composition of a sample, the masses of particles and of molecules, and for elucidating the chemical structures of molecules, such as peptides and other chemical compounds. Mass spectrometry works by ionizing chemical compounds to generate charged molecules or molecule fragments and measuring their mass-to-charge ratios. In a typical MS procedure a sample, which may be solid, liquid, or gas, is ionized. The ions are separated according to their mass-to-charge ratio. The ions are detected by a mechanism capable of detecting charged particles. The signal is processed into the spectra (singular spectrum) of the relative abundance of ions as a function of the mass-to-charge ratio. The atoms or molecules can be identified by correlating known masses by the identified masses or through a characteristic fragmentation pattern. The goal of this special issue is to provide a platform for scientists and academicians all over the world to promote, share, and discuss various new issues and developments in the area of Mass Spectrometry.

In this special issue, potential topics include, but are not limited to:

  •     Mass spectrometry method
  •     Mass spectrometry Soft ionization technology
  •     Electric spray technology
  •     Mass spectrometry detector
  •     Desorption Electrospray Ionization
  •     Sample pre-treatment technology
  •     Corona Direct Analysis in Real Time
  •     Extractive Electrospray Ionization
  •     Mass spectrum spectrogram analysis
  •     Application of mass spectrometry method

In this special issue, we are going to invite front-line researchers and authors to submit original research and review articles that explore Mass Spectrometry.

Authors should read over the journal’s Authors' Guidelines carefully before submission. Prospective authors should submit an electronic copy of their complete manuscript through the journal at Paper Submission System.

Please kindly notice that the Special Issue’’ under your manuscript title is supposed to be specified and the research field “Special Issue Mass Spectrometry” should be chosen during your submission.

According to the following timetable:
