Special Issue on Plant Nutrition

Plants use inorganic minerals for nutrition, whether grown in the field or in a container. Complex interactions involving weathering of rock minerals, decaying organic matter, animals, and microbes take place to form inorganic minerals in soil. Roots absorb mineral nutrients as ions in soil water. Many factors influence nutrient uptake for plants. Ions can be readily available to roots or could be "tied up" by other elements or the soil itself. Soil too high in pH (alkaline) or too low (acid) makes minerals unavailable to plants.

In this special issue, we intend to invite front-line researchers and authors to submit original researches and review articles on exploring plant nutrition. Potential topics include, but are not limited to:

  • Nutrient cycling in ecosystems
  • Root development and function
  • Functions of nutrients on plant physiology and growth
  • Nutrient and stress signalling
  • Micronutrients
  • Symbiotic relationship between microbes and crop yield
  • Soil fertility and fertilization
  • Plant senescence and nutrient retranslocation
  • The role of plant nutrients in disease control
  • Integrated nutrient management

Authors should read over the journal’s Authors’ Guidelines carefully before submission. Prospective authors should submit an electronic copy of their complete manuscript through the journal at Paper Submission System.

Please kindly specify the “Special Issue” under your manuscript title. The research field “Special Issue – Plant Nutrition” should be selected during your submission.
