Special Issue on Psychology for Autism

When autism was first identified, clinicians believed it was an emotional disorder caused by the cold, rejecting parenting style of so-called refrigerator mothers. Today psychologists know that autism is a problem in the way the brain works, not in how people are raised. That discovery has led them to develop medical, educational and behavioral approaches to treatment. The goal of this special issue is to provide a platform to explore the role of psychology for autism.

In this special issue, we invite front-line researchers and authors to submit original research and review articles that explore psychology for autism. In this special issue, potential topics include, but are not limited to:

  • Theory of mind in autism
  • Social behavior of autism
  • Communicative functioning of autism
  • Intensive ABA treatment
  • Applied behavior analysis
  • Psychology as a treatment for autism

Authors should read over the journal’s For Authors carefully before submission. Prospective authors should submit an electronic copy of their complete manuscript through the journal’s Paper Submission System.

Please kindly specify the Special Issue” under your manuscript title. The research field “Special Issue Psychology for Autism” should be selected during your submission.
