Special Issue on Endocrinology

Endocrinology is the study of biology and medicine that relates to the endocrine system. Endocrine system is the system that controls hormones, which consists of several glands that secrete hormones directly into the blood rather than into a duct system.

The best scientific projects designed by postgraduates majoring in Endocrinology will be selected to take part in this special issue of the Open Journal of Endocrine and Metabolic Diseases. Relevant issues in the daily clinical practice of Endocrinology will be highlighted, such as rare case reports, reviews on key topics of Endocrinology and Metabolism, new approaches towards old clinical challenges and the current comprehension of prevalent metabolic diseases.

Potential topics include, but are not limited to:

• Diabetes types 1 and 2 and their current clinical approaches
• Dyslipidemia: treatment and perspective
• Obesity, insulin resistance and related disorders
• Policystic ovarian syndrome
• Hormone homeostasis and hormone replacement therapies
• Molecular pathways and common thyroid diseases
• Unfrequent metabolic diseases
