Special Issue on Metals in Medicine

Metal for the purpose of diagnosis and treatment goes back to antiquity. A certain amount of metals are essential to many critical functions in humans. Lacking or excessing metal ions are likely to cause disease. Most metals are used in enzymes as cofactors or prosthetics, catalyzing specific reactions and serving essential roles. This Special Issue aims to provide a platform to promote, share, and discuss metals and metal complexes applied in medicine, and their molecular design, synthesis, characterization and theoretical research.

In this special issue, we intend to invite front-line researchers and authors to submit original research and review articles on exploring Metals in Medicine. Potential topics include, but are not limited to:

  • Advances and development of metals in medicine
  • Design of new metal-based drugs
  • Synthesis and characterization of metal complexes
  • Metals in medicine and healthcare
  • Mechanism and cytotoxicity of metal complexes
  • Metals in diagnosis and treatment
  • Toxic effects of metals

Authors should read over the journal’s For Authors carefully before submission. Prospective authors should submit an electronic copy of their complete manuscript through the journal’s Paper Submission System.

Please kindly specify the “Special Issue” under your manuscript title. The research field “Special Issue - Metals in Medicine” should be selected during your submission.
