Special Issue on Pain and Sensory Mechanisms

Pain is an unpleasant feeling resulting from the complex interplay between sensory and cognitive mechanisms. It warns us of the potential or actual injury. The pain can be transitory, when the noxious stimulus is removed or the damage or illness has healed, the pain will disappear. And it also can be persistent, lasting for years, such as the pain caused by rheumatoid arthritis, peripheral neuropathy, and cancer.

In this special issue, we intend to invite front-line researchers and authors to submit original research and review articles on exploring Pain and Sensory Mechanisms. Potential topics include, but are not limited to:

  • Chronic pain
  • Pain asymbolia and insensitivity
  • Acute pain
  • Incident pain
  • Pain modulation
  • Opiate analgesia
  • Stimulation produced analgesia
  • Nociception
  • Neuropathic pain
  • Phantom pain
  • Pain in animals or invertebrates

Authors should read over the journal’s For Authors carefully before submission. Prospective authors should submit an electronic copy of their complete manuscript through the journal’s Paper Submission System.

Please kindly specify the “Special Issue” under your manuscript title. The research field “Special Issue - Pain and Sensory Mechanisms” should be selected during your submission.
