Special Issue on Dielectrics and Ferroelectrics

Ferroelectricity is a property of certain materials that have a spontaneous electric polarization that can be reversed by the application of an external electric field. The term is used in analogy to ferromagnetism, in which a material exhibits a permanent magnetic moment. Ferromagnetism was already known when ferroelectricity was discovered in 1920 in Rochelle salt by Valasek. Thus, the prefix ferro, meaning iron, was used to describe the property despite the fact that most ferroelectric materials do not contain iron. A dielectric material (dielectric for short) is an electrical insulator that can be polarized by an applied electric field. The study of dielectric properties concerns storage and dissipation of electric and magnetic energy in materials. Dielectrics are important for explaining various phenomena in electronics, optics, and solid-state physics. As one of hottest topics in physics, dielectrics and ferroelectrics are of great attractions to researchers.

In this special issue, we intend to invite front-line researchers and authors to submit original researches and review articles on exploring dielectrics and ferroelectrics. Potential topics include, but are not limited to:

  • Dielectric polarization
  • Fundamentals of ferroelectrics/dielectrics
  • New ferroelectric/dielectric materials
  • Mechanics offerroelectrics/piezoelectrics
  • Application offerroelectric/dielectric materials and structures

Authors should read over the journal’s Authors’ Guidelines carefully before submission. Prospective authors should submit an electronic copy of their complete manuscript through the journal’s Paper Submission System.

Please kindly specify the “Special Issue” under your manuscript title. The research field “Special Issue - Dielectrics and Ferroelectrics” should be selected during your submission.
