Special Issue on Advances in Dementia
Dementia is a broad category of
brain diseases that cause long term loss of the ability to think, reason and
remember clearly. The most common form of dementia is Alzheimer's disease (75%)
and most types of dementia are slow and progressive. Although cognitive testing,
laboratory tests and imaging can help to diagnosis of dementia and cholinesterase inhibitors are often used in the early stage
of disease, except for some treatable types, there is still no cure. More
seriously, according to statistics, the
number of dementia worldwide in 2010 was estimated at 35.6 million. As
more and more people surfer from dementia and have nothing significantly effective to
do, further study on dementia has become necessary and meaningful to
researchers.
In
this special issue, we intend to invite front-line researchers and authors to
submit original researches and review articles on exploring advances in dementia. Potential topics include, but are not
limited to:
-
Signs and symptoms of dementia
