Special Issue on Psychology for Autism

Autism is the most severe developmental disability. Appearing within the first three years of life, autism involves impairments in social interaction — such as being aware of other people’s feelingsand verbal and nonverbal communication. Some people with autism have limited interests, strange eating or sleeping behaviors or a tendency to do things to hurt themselves, such as banging their heads or biting their hands. Psychology has made huge contributions to the understanding and treatment of autism. Psychologists are often involved in the process of diagnosing both children and adults with autism. They may also recommend appropriate treatment programs, and support the process of evaluation, benchmarking and ongoing assessment.

In this special issue, we intend to invite front-line researchers and authors to submit original research and review articles on exploring psychology for autism. Potential topics include, but are not limited to:

  • Theory of mind in autism
  • Social behavior of autism
  • Communicative functioning of autism
  • Intensive ABA treatment
  • Applied behavior analysis
  • Psychology as a treatment for autism

Authors should read over the journal’s Authors’ Guidelines carefully before submission. Prospective authors should submit an electronic copy of their complete manuscript through the journal’s Paper Submission System.

Please kindly notice that the “Special Issue” under your manuscript title is supposed to be specified and the re-search field “Special Issue - Psychology for Autism” should be chosen during your submission.
