Rationale
The
aim of the Symposium is to establish an international forum for presenting and
discussing historical developments in the field of Machine and Mechanism
Science (MMS). This is the 8th event of a Symposium series that was started in
2000 in Cassino (Italy), as main activity of the IFToMM PC for History of MMS.
The Symposium covers all aspects of
the development of MMS from antiquity to the present and its historiography:
-
Modern reviews of past works.
-
People, history, and their works.
-
Direct memories of the recent past.
-
Historic development of theories.

mechanisms.
-
Developments of mechanical design and
automation
-
Historic development of teaching, of schools
of engineering and education of engineers
At
HMM 2024 special attention will be given to the work and research of past
distinguished members and the role of European and Anatolian experiences and
designs in MMS.
The journal issue on ‘Findings in the
History of Machines and Mechanisms’ with papers from HMM 2024.
The
issue will contain a selection of 10 best paper contributions in the subjects
that will be presented at the HMM 2024 Symposium (enclosed Call for Papers).
Based
on aims of the symposium, expected are submissions related to theoretical,
practices and applications on the Findings on historical aspects of Mechanism
and Machines evolution as related to interdisciplinary subjects as in all
aspects of the development of machine technology.
The
collection in the springer book series is a collection of conference papers of
8-14 springer pages maximum. What we propose for the special issue in the
