Special Issue on Research on Rice

Rice is the major staple food of Asia, and an important source of employment and income in rural areas, particularly in low-income countries. Research has contributed significantly in achieving food security by increasing the yield potential of rice in irrigated systems, reducing the crop maturity period and achieving yield stability by developing resistance against major insects and diseases in the modern high-yielding varieties. Poverty is, however, still extensive in fragile rainfed rice ecosystems where rice yield has remained low, as scientists have yet to develop high-yielding varieties resistant to abiotic stresses and problem soils. The goal of this special issue is to provide a platform for scientists and academicians all over the world to promote, share, and discuss various new issues and developments in this area of research on rice.

In this special issue, we invite front-line researchers and authors to submit original research and review articles that explore research on rice. In this special issue, potential topics include, but are not limited to:

    • Rice genetics
    • Climate and rices
    • Rice structural and functional genomics
    • Rice crop management
    • Rice-growing environments
    • Molecular biology and physiology of rice
    • Pests and diseases of rice

Authors should read over the journal’s For Authors carefully before submission. Prospective authors should submit an electronic copy of their complete manuscript through the journal’s Paper Submission System.

Please kindly specify the Special Issue” under your manuscript title. The research field “Special Issue - Research on Rice” should be selected during your submission.
