Profile Details

Dr. Ke Liu is the Vice President & Chief Technology Officer of National Institute of Clean & Low-carbon Energy (NICE), and recently becomes the Vice President of Shenhua Research. He started his career at Exxon-Mobil in 1992, and then worked in United Technologies Corp (UTC) and General Electric over the years, and before he took the CTO position of NICE, he was the Gasification Platform Technology Leader & Principal Scientist of GE Global Research Center. Dr. Liu has numerous publications &over 65 patents & patent applications. He is the lead author of the book “Syngas and H2Production & Purification Technologies” which was published by John Wiley & Sons in 2009. Due to his active role in different energy fields, he was elected as the Board Member of the former “Power, Environmental & Energy Research Center of California Institute of Technology”, the Board Member of International Pittsburgh Coal Conference (PCC) Organization, an leading international organization in coal and related energy industry. He was also elected as the editor in chief of the “International Journal of Clean Coal and Energy”, as well as the associate editor of the “Energy and Fuels” Journal. He was selected to won numerous awards including the National Award for theMinorities in Research(2006 Emerald Honors Special Recognition Award).He obtained the Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from City University of New York, and Master of Management from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI).
