ABSTRACT: The study aimed to investigate the characteristics of 500 research article titles in nursing and explore any differences between the three types of journals: international high impact factor journals, domestic journals published in Japanese, and domestic journal published in English. The nursing article titles showed significant differences according to the journal type, which indicates the danger of generalizing discipline-specific norms. The results also showed that the article titles of international high impact factor journals show significant differences in four features: style, length, structure, and content. These results are useful, especially for novice writers who use English as a foreign language.
