Abstract: ICCP (Iterative closet contour point) algorithm is a kind of important matching algorithm, however, mismatch usually happens when it is used in underwater geomagnetic matching navigation .This paper introduces the basic principle of the ICCP and studies the characteristics of the geomagnetic field where mismatch happens, then the criterion for classifying the mismatch area is given as well. Improved algorithm, which based on grid translation, is also put forward to get the local convergent set with little error probability. Simulation results show that the improved algorithm weaken the probability of mismatch and improves the stability of ICCP.
