Abstract: A real-time software GPS receiver was developed by using the hardware produced by GPS Creations Corporation and the software—Open Source GPS as a reference. Firstly, we introduced the hardware components of the system, especially the structure and functions of the GP2021 correlator, which is the core component. The useful and important registers inside the correlator are also discussed in detail. Secondly, a proper interface model for the baseband signal processing is introduced as an application, including the device driver and the interrupt service routine. As a whole, this system can be as a reference for the software GPS receiver development and the current work makes a good start for deeper research.
