Abstract: In this study, bioaugmentation technique was used to improve COD removal rate by adding high-efficient bacteria. After domestication, five kinds of bacteria were screened from coking wastewater sludge, which had strong adaptability for the coking wastewater. Among them, two kinds of bacteria showed good synergism, so they were chosen and mixed as dominant microflora. The optimum growth temperature and pH of high-efficient bacteria were determined, and their growth curves were also drawn. On the optimum condition, the COD removal rate was 70.5%, and it could be increased by about 10% via add dominant microflora to normal sludge.
