Abstract: 2 red tide algae were investigated on the egg production rate of Calanus sinicus in laboratory. Fatty acids were detected with GC-MS analysis method. The results showed that compared with algae in logarithmic phase, the values of total content of fatty acids and egg production rate were all decreased in decline phase. Both in two phases, Prorocgntrum micans could sustain higher total content total content of fatty acids and egg production rate, indicating that diatom probably is not the suitable diet though it is major food source for copepods.
