Abstract: Through stratified sampling and test of five sediment sites in Dongguan Canal, the Dongguan Canal was polluted by Cu and Cd generally, and Cd is the most heavily polluted metal. Besides Pb, the Cu、Zn、 Cd、Cr comes from the same source and influenced by human activity. The evaluation method of Hakanson was used for ecological risk assessment of the Canal sediment, which shows Cd has strong ecological risk. The content of heavy metals increase from bottom to top in the sediment, it indicates Cd containing waste water was discharged into the canal directly in the recent years, and relevant departments should strengthen the supervision and regulation of such waste water.
