Abstract: The efficacy of natural pyrethrin on blowfly (Chrysomya megacephala) and the residue dynamics of natural pyrethrin on salted fish were studied. Results showed that the efficacy of natural pyrethrin on larvae of blowfly on proccesing salted fish was perfect. The correction mortalities of larvae were 85.03%, 100%, and 100% under the concentrations of natural pyrethrin at 8 mg/l, 16 mg/l, and 32 mg/l in 24 h of treatment, respectively. The residues of natural pyrethrin was less than 3 mg/kg, the maximun residue limit set by FAO, except for the doubled dose of 32 mg/L at the first day after treatment, and the residues in salted dried fish was less than 0.01 mg/kg after 14 days of preservation, indicating that natural pyrethrin could be a potantial alternative insecticide for protection of salted dried fish from blowfly.
