Abstract: This paper proposed a theoretical hypothesis that agricultural informatization has promoting effect on the development of rural economy. Raising the level of agricultural informatization is helpful to improve the scientific and technological quality of farmers, promote the industrialization of agriculture, transforme traditional agriculture, and promote the orderly flow of rural labor force. On the basis of establishing evaluation index system, principal component analysis was used to evaluate the level of agricultural informatization. Empirical results show that the level of agricultural information presents the trend of increasing from 2000 to 2008. By calculating the correlation coefficient and establishing linear regression model, the relationship between agricultural informatization and rural economic development was analyzed. Empirical results confirm the theoretical hypothesis that agricultural informatization has promoting effect on the development of rural economy. In the end, some countermeasures and suggestions on how to promote the development of agricultural informatization are proposed.
