Abstract: Abstract: This paper reviews the literature that discusses the components of organizational context in the research area of IS (Information Systems). Organizational context is an important factor that significantly affects IS usage and its effectiveness, as different components of the organizational context constitute different environments in which IS are developed and implemented. The literature is carefully reviewed, including both conceptual and empirical articles in major IS journals. The organizational context components are classified under six perspectives in this paper: general organization, department, project, workflow, individual, and external environment. We hope that the findings will provide useful insights regarding the organizational context literature in IS research, so as to better understand the interaction between organizational context and IS.
